Wednesday June 10th marked the launch of You@Sharjah – Frontline Training Program; a joined venture between SCTDA and LEAD created in a bid to comply with the ever so demanding tourism sector in the UAE, dedicated to building capacity in individuals and organizations and aiming to continually provide outstanding competencies and processes to meet the goals of departments and support the vision of organizations.
The press conference took place at the Hilton Hotel Sharjah and was hosted by HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa the Director General of SCTDA and Mr. Mohannad Shahin the Managing Director of LEAD. The event was attended by more than a hundred invitees representing the HR and top management divisions from various Sharjah hotels.
The customized training program is aimed at frontline hospitality industry employees in Sharjah and provides them with a global overview on a diversity of topics enabling them to better serve the public and lead the evolution of Sharjah to be one of the most recognizable cities in the world. It is intended for several departments in the hospitality industry such as Concierge, Guest Relations, Front Desk, Reservations, Bell Desk Employees, and Room Service for Hotels & Deluxe Hotel Apartments.
The program emphasizes the exposure to knowledge, communication skills, etiquette skills, anger management, customer service, and upselling skills. This will be achieved through various methods including workshops, presentations, audio visual shows, role playing, and online training. It will assist employees in the frontline of the hospitality industry to improve their skills and give them full information about Sharjah to take the tourism in the emirate a step further into the right direction of becoming one of the world’s most popular touristic destinations.

You@Sharjah is the second initiative announced under the umbrella of Marhabtain which over the next few years will launch several training projects mainly aimed at the tourism sector to enable staff and encourage tourism making Sharjah “An Experience to Discover”.
